BTS members RM, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook are all preparing for their mandatory South Korean military service. BIGHIT Music, the group's agency, announced on Dec 5. that they will enlist and begin their stint in the nation's army, following fellow members Jin, J-Hope, and Suga, who are already enlisted.

“Thank you to all of the fans who continue to support BTS. We would like to provide additional information regarding RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook's military enlistment," BIGHIT said in a statement on Weverse.

“To fulfill their military service obligations, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are enlisting as active-duty soldiers in the Army.”

As RM and V will enlist according to their own procedures, and Jimin and Jungkook will enlist together, there will be no separate official event on the day of their entry into the recruit training center.

At the time of publication, no additional information on the exact date of enlistment was available.

The agency, as in the past, noted that the new recruit training camp entrance ceremony is typically attended by soldiers and their families, and asked that members of fan group ARMY refrain from visiting the site during the ceremony to avoid overcrowding and unsafe conditions.

"We ask that you only give a warm send-off and encouragement to RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook with your heart," the message by BIGHIT went on to say.

BTS announced in June 2022 that the group would be taking a break to allow each male member to focus on solo endeavors as their enlistment period approached. South Korean law requires all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 to serve a two-year military stint.

Since the group's founding almost ten years ago, military service obligations have hovered over its members, with Jin, the oldest, being the first to report for duty. Pop musicians do not currently enjoy the same exemption from the mandatory military service as some elite athletes and classical musicians do in the nation.

The fans are disheartened by the disassembly of the group but are whole heartedly waiting for the end of their military service and the reunification of the group in 2025.
