BTS is back: The world’s most famous K-pop band marches back into civilian life
RM and V of BTS were discharged from military service on June 10, 2025, greeted by enthusiastic fans anticipating the group's reunion. Both expressed gratitude and hinted at an upcoming comeback, coinciding with BTS's 12th-anniversary celebrations...

At a small outdoor field in Chuncheon, about 200 fans gathered from as far as Mexico, Turkey, Brazil, and the Philippines to welcome back two beloved figures in white military dress. RM, clutching a bouquet and lifelong saxophone, offered a brief performance, while V, in uniform and freshly severed from military life, beamed and danced in response.
Both were visibly moved as they saluted and addressed the crowd, expressing gratitude and eagerness for what’s next.
Words from RM and V
“To all the ARMYs who have waited for us, I’m truly, truly grateful,” V said, urging fans to “please wait just a little longer” for an impressive comeback. RM echoed these feelings, highlighting his longing for stage performance: “I’ll work hard to make an album soon and come back to the stage”. He added a touch of playfulness by playing a sax tune on the spot.
This week also marks “FESTA,” the 12th anniversary of BTS’s debut, celebrated with events across Seoul. Meanwhile, the remaining three members—Jimin and Jungkook, to be discharged June 11, and Suga, on June 21, complete their service, closing the gap toward a full reunion.
For BTS, mandatory service began a long hiatus in 2022. Today, their return symbolizes not just a musical rebirth, but a reset on identity and leadership. V described his service as rebuilding him “physically and mentally.” Meanwhile, RM's introspective solo work, including his documentary “Right People, Wrong Place,” framed this return as a journey toward authenticity
Anticipation for new music, albums, and stadium tours is reaching a fever pitch.
