Broadway star Ed Ames passes away at 95
Ed Ames, a popular and veteran figure in the entertainment industry passed away on May 21 at his Los Angeles home.

He was born on July 9, 1927 in Massachusetts, United States in a Jewish household to Sarah and David Urick. He began his career starring in “The Fantasticks,” “Carnival,” and more on Broadway which earned him many praises and boosted career further.
The Ames brothers – Ed Ames, Vic Ames, Joe Ames and Gene Ames, achieved success with their rendition of "Rag Mop" in 1950. Ed Ames also enjoyed a solo career with hits such as "Who Will Answer?", "My Cup Runneth Over," and "Try to Remember." During the 1950s, the group had a syndicated TV show called "The Ames Brothers Show" and achieved chart success with 49 songs before disbanding in 1963.
Ames developed a skill for throwing a tomahawk while playing the character Mingo on television which led him to one of his most memorable moments on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" in 1965.
Despite his Russian Jewish heritage, Ames often found himself cast as a Native American. He also made guest appearances on various shows, including "The Rifleman," "McCloud," "Murder She Wrote," and more.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne, two children – Ronald and Sonya, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and stepson Stephen. Unfortunately, his daughter Marcella passed away before him.
