The Lynx (22-5), riding a four-game overall win streak, were outscored 24-13 in the second quarter as Griner went 5-for-6 from the field. Atlanta (15-10) shot a blistering 69.2% in the period to take control and later held off a late Minnesota surge.
Griner finished 8-of-13 from the floor, while Jordin Canada added 18 points. Allisha Gray and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough each chipped in 12, helping the Dream shoot 52.3% overall and secure a split of their six-game road trip.
Despite the loss, Napheesa Collier delivered a stellar performance for the Lynx, scoring a game-high 32 points on 14-of-18 shooting with eight rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.
Alanna Smith added 12 points and Courtney Williams had 11 points and nine assists as Minnesota shot 56.1% from the field.
The Dream led by as many as 13 in the fourth quarter, but the Lynx rallied late. Collier’s bucket cut the deficit to 89-86 with 10.9 seconds left, and she stole the ensuing inbounds pass, only to step out of bounds. Canada then hit one of two free throws to seal the win.
The loss denied Minnesota a chance to tie the fourth-longest home winning streak in WNBA history.
