WNBA all-star Brittney Griner is finally back on the court after 10-month Russian custody. Her first workout this Friday was a dunk on the basketball court. She was arrested for drug charges at the airport and has been stuck there for 10 months.
She was arrested in February at the airport, where she was caught with vape cartridges full of oils from cannabis. Her arrest happened to be at an unfortunate timing, as the Russia-Ukraine war was around the corner. Griner has been taking this all surprisingly well after 10 gruesome months of Russian custody.
All thanks to the US President Joe Biden Administration, Russia was onboard to a prisoner swap, which made Griner’s return possible. Lindsay Kagawa Colas mentioned that during these holidays, Griner would take some time off to rest and choose her next course of action without any pressure. Colas also told ESPN that there is no specific time when Griner will return as the world has changed a lot for her. It was a fate she didn’t ask for, but Colas believes Griner will utilize her fame for good.
