Britney Spears’ husband Sam Asghari spoke in support of his wife even before the TMZ documentary aired on May 15. ‘Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom’ examined the singer’s life after she was liberated from her conservatorship in November 2021. The documentary also had allegations about her mental health and depicted her as posing a physical danger to herself and her husband. The documentary further claimed that she has not spoken with her children in over a year, 17-year-old Sean Preston Federline and 16-year-old Jayden Federline.

While Britney Spears’ husband did not specifically mention the TMZ documentary, he accused people of exploiting his wife’s struggles. Taking to his Instagram story, Asghari wrote, “The last thing I want to do is speak on my wife's behalf…I would never do that. I respect her privacy. That's why I don't talk as much, and I find it absolutely disgusting for the people that were in her life at the time, when she didn't have a voice, they went and told her story like it was theirs."

He continued: "How are you going to take the most influential person of our generation, the princess of pop, America's sweetheart and put her in prison where her father tells her what to do... Now you're going to put her under a microscope and tell her story? No."
