Brent crude hits $119/barrel after UAE says Iranian drone attack hit oil facility, raising global oil supply fears
Brent oil price rise is linked to Middle East tension after a drone attack in the United Arab Emirates. Supply fears are growing as key oil routes face risk. Global markets are reacting fast with higher prices. Experts say uncertainty may continue...

The attack reportedly targeted a major oil export area, creating fear in global markets about oil supply disruption. Crypto and macro analyst Adam Cochran said on X that the Fujairah oil export terminal was hit. He explained that this terminal is the biggest facility in the region that can ship oil without using the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that if the damage is large, oil supply from the Gulf could completely stop.
Oil price jump
Meanwhile, Brent oil prices crossed on last Wednesday $119.69 per barrel, rising about 7.6% in a short time, as reported by Moneycontrol. This is the highest oil price level seen since early 2022 during the start of the Ukraine war. Oil prices are rising because the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran is getting worse.Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the most important routes for oil shipping. Because of this, global oil supply is under threat, pushing prices higher quickly, as per market reaction noted by Moneycontrol. The US military has stepped in to protect ships and oil routes in the region.
US action at sea
Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command, said US forces destroyed six Iranian boats, as per Al Jazeera report. He also said US forces intercepted Iranian missiles and drones targeting ships. These actions are part of a mission called “Project Freedom” to keep the Strait open. He warned Iran to stay away from US military assets during the operation. The US has also placed a blockade on Iranian ports and said the mission is working better than expected. The US says Iran’s Revolutionary Guard attacked commercial ships with missiles and drones. The US military is now actively protecting ships from many countries passing through the Gulf. A total of ships from 87 countries use this route, showing how important it is globally.
Experts say Gulf countries like the UAE may want to respond to Iran’s attacks, according to Sultan Barakat speaking to Al Jazeera. But he added that most Gulf nations are still hesitant to enter a direct conflict. He said these countries feel this conflict is not theirs but they are still suffering economic losses.
UAE strong warning
The UAE government officially condemned the Iranian drone and missile attacks. The UAE called the attack “treacherous” and a serious threat to its national security, according to its Foreign Ministry statement via Al Jazeera. The UAE also said it has the full right to respond to these attacks.FAQs
