Breakdancing events at the Paris Olympics 2024 were extremely popular and videos of the athletes' performances did the rounds on social media. Across the different categories of this sport, Team USA, Great Britain, Japan, South Korea, were spearheading the competition, with others following close behind. Meanwhile, there was also serious competition from the hosting nation, France, in this particular event, in different categories.

USA didn't consider the fact that breakdancing had a rich history in the United States, most importantly in New York City, where this dance form is rumored to have originated in the 50's and 60's.

France's Olympic organizers considered breaking like a novelty, rather than a long-term sport, which has probably led to this fiasco. According to reports, this sport, that amassed immense popularity in Paris, may not come back not only in Los Angeles, but also in the next two editions of the Summer Games, which is a sad news for the fanbase it had garnered in Paris.
