Brazilian star Antony becomes 5th signing of Manchester United this year, proves critics wrong

Antony is the new signing of Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, this year. Antony is the fifth player Erik Ten Hag, the football club's new boss has signed. Antony has been signed to play as an attacker in the team.

The new boss of Manchester United has stressed that all the players who have been signed recently must adopt the right attitude both on and off the pitch.

Antony has been facing some ire for his conduct lately. The player had earlier refused to do training with the first team of Ajax. Besides, he recently slammed his current employer publicly, for which Antony has faced much criticism.


Although no one questioned Antony's passion for the game, two former Netherlands players had once said that Antony's behavior could cost him big deals.

In March 2022, Antony scored a match-winning goal in the 87th minute of the game again Feyenoord and removed his t-shirt during the celebration, receiving a yellow card from the referee. After some minutes, Antony received another yellow card in the game and was dismissed before the end of the match.


While commenting on Antony's behavior after the match, former Netherlands international Rene van der Gijp stated that the clubs interested in buying the winger would not have liked his on-field behavior against Feyenoord. Former Dutch player Wim Kieft also questioned Antony's behavior, saying that the Brazilian player could not be called young anymore because he has been acting the same for the last two years. No coach can calm players like Antony, added Kieft.

Interestingly, there were rumors around that time that Manchester United and Liverpool were interested in buying the Brazilian footballer.

However, Antony has proved the two Netherlands internationals by securing a deal with Manchester United. Now, Antony will have to prove his mettle in the Premier League through his game.
