'The King' Pele died at the age of 82 on December 29, after a prolonged fight against colon cancer. His coffin is to be laid in state in the Santos Club's football stadium so that fans can have a last look at football's greatest icon during his time.

The three-time world cup champion's statue at the Vila Belmiro stadium has already drawn plenty of fans who have laid wreaths and flowers at its feet. The coffin will be placed at the centre line of the stadium, where fans can pay a visit.

Pele, whose full name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento and known by his nickname, was declared "greatest" by FIFA and was considered among the most famous footballers in the game's history. Pele was also the Minister of Sports in Brazil and was called the "Athlete of the Century" by the International Olympic Committee.
