Pele, the three-time World Cup winner widely regarded as the founding father of modern football, died on Thursday after spending the majority of November in a hospital in Sao Paulo.

At the age of 82, he passed away in Brazil after battling cancer. His grace, athleticism, and hypnotic maneuvers mesmerized players and viewers, making him widely considered the finest football player to ever grace the game.


Well-known personalities and organizations across the world have paid tribute to the football legend.

Taking to Twitter, the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) wrote, "King Pele" alongside three crown emojis.

Superstar Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo posted a photo of them together along with a tribute on Instagram. In the tribute, he said that Pele will live on in all of us who love football and that we will never forget him.
