News of his passing followed Kelly Clarkson’s announcement that she was postponing the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas residency due to his illness. “Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” Clarkson said on Instagram. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”

Clarkson and Blackstock married in 2013 and had two children together: River Rose, 11, and Remy Alexander, 9. Blackstock also had two children from a previous marriage. His father, Narvel Blackstock, previously served as Clarkson’s manager.

The couple finalized their divorce in 2022 after Clarkson filed in 2020. The process included disputes over property ownership, notably involving a Montana ranch. According to People, Clarkson was awarded ownership after a legal battle despite Blackstock residing there during the proceedings.

The rescheduled dates for Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, originally planned for August 8–9 and 15–16, have been moved. Her next run at the venue is scheduled for November.
