Brad Paisley releases country song ‘Same Here’ featuring Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Brad Paisley, the country music star, has released a song featuring Ukraine's President Zelenskyy marking one year since the start of Russia's war.

Paisley's newly released country song, titled "Same Here," draws parallels between the aspirations, anxieties, and aspirations of individuals residing in both nations, as he perceives – “there’s just no differences.” He emphasizes that people in the United States and Ukraine share common experiences such as watching the sunset, attending weddings, and being concerned about their loved ones.
On this one year anniversary of the invasion, I'm reminded of the ways we are all so similar.

In addition, Paisley notes in the song that both countries have their fair share of stereotypes, such as the "left coast clichés," and that their residents gather in bars to bond over beers and tackle global issues. He goes on to say, "People cry when they're happy, same here."
Paisley, a three-time Grammy winner, told The Associated Press that he penned the track after witnessing news reports of Russian troops invading Ukraine. While he acknowledges that he does not speak Ukrainian, he says that he can understand the tears.
Paisley revealed that he was deeply affected by the footage of people losing their homes and fleeing their comfort, feeling helpless in the face of their plight.
While the song does not explicitly mention Ukraine, it does feature a brief conversation with Zelenskyy, whom Paisley introduces as "a friend across the ocean." In their exchange, Zelenskyy concurs that their countries share many similarities, including their appreciation for children, freedom, soldiers, and people, as well as their pride in their army.
Paisley's "Same Here" is the first single from his upcoming album, "Son of the Mountains," which is slated for release later this year. As a celebrity ambassador for Ukraine's United24 crowdfunding initiative, he has contributed his personal time to aid Ukrainians.
According to Paisley, royalties from the song will be given to United24 to assist in the construction of housing facilities for thousands of Ukrainians displaced by the conflict.
