Box office update: Insidious: The Red Door beats Indiana Jones 5, earns over $32 million opening
Sony’s Insidious: The Red Door has brought back the horror genre in theaters post-lockdown, beating the adventure film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny at the box office.

Red Door has beaten Harrison Ford’s swan song Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, taking it to second place with a $26.5 million second weekend. Red Door also boasts of the best opening for a PG-13 horror movie post-lockdown.
Sony/Marvel film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, also beat Disney/Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 as the highest-grossing movie of the summer, $357.6 million to $357.5 million.
Insidious: The Red Door has the cast of the original film, including Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins, Leigh Whannell and Lin Shaye, with direction by Wilson as his debut. The original factor cast has worked for the audience.
