Borussia Dortmund advance to last 16 with a 1-0 win over Ulsan in Club World Cup

Daniel Svensson’s first-half strike proved decisive as Borussia Dortmund edged Ulsan 1–0 on Wednesday to advance to the Club World Cup’s round of 16.

In the 36th minute, Ulsan’s back line erred on a loose pass near goal, gifting Jobe Bellingham possession. Bellingham delivered a pinpoint cross that Svensson met with a composed finish from about 10 yards past goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo.

Dortmund topped Group F with seven points - two clear of Fluminense, who drew 0–0 with Mamelodi Sundowns - while Ulsan finished bottom without a point.



Despite sweltering 33°C heat and a citywide advisory, TQL Stadium welcomed 8,239 fans in its 26,000-seat bowl, including US Vice President JD Vance.

Dominant throughout, Dortmund outshot Ulsan 28–3 and saw American midfielder Gio Reyna make his tournament debut, coming on in the 78th minute. Reyna’s appearance came after FIFA prioritized Club World Cup duty over his participation in the US squad at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

"The only thing we could have done a little bit better is maybe scoring a bit more goals, because we created a lot of chances today," Svensson said after the match.
