BlizzCon 2023 kicked off with a bang for Overwatch 2 fans. Game Director Aaron Keller warmed up the crowd with touching remarks before diving into the much-anticipated updates and reveals.

Mauga Introduced



First up was the introduction of Mauga, a new tank hero, anticipated to shake up the game with his arrival in Season 8, beginning December 5, 2023. This Samoan powerhouse brings a fresh dynamic to the battlefield with his chainguns and robust abilities.

For a limited time during BlizzCon, Mauga is available for a test run in all Overwatch 2 PvP modes. This sneak peek is a golden opportunity for players to decide if they'll opt for the Premium tier of the Season 8 Battle Pass for early access.

Mauga's Arsenal:

  • Incendiary Chaingun: Sets enemies aflame for damage over time.
  • Volatile Chaingun: Delivers critical hits to burning enemies.
  • Overrun: Mauga charges, resists crowd control, and unleashes a ground slam.
  • Cardiac Overdrive: Reduces damage and heals Mauga and allies with damage dealt.
  • Cage Fight (Ultimate): Traps and fights enemies with unlimited ammo.
  • Berserker (Passive): Landing criticals bolsters Mauga with extra health.
New Heroes:


Keller didn't stop at Mauga. He teased two more heroes: Venture, a damage hero, and a support known as "Space Ranger," both slated for release in 2024.

Day two brought fans a closer look at Space Ranger, the high-flying support from Mars, showcasing her mobility and thruster-centric playstyle.
