‘Blacklist’ ending explained; Know what happens to ‘Red’ as Season 10 concludes with two-part finale

James Spader's iconic character, Raymond "Red" Reddington, took his final bow in the two-part series finale of The Blacklist, which premiered on Thursday night (July 13).

James Spader continued to captivate audiences with his eccentric portrayal of Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington, even after Megan Boone's departure from the show in Season 8. Blacklist has maintained its popularity and gained more viewers through its partnership with Netflix.

In Blacklist Season 9, the Task Force regroups following Elizabeth Keen's death and successfully clears Harold Cooper's name. However, the season ends with a new threat for Spader’s character, Reddington and the Task Force in the form of Wujing, a Blacklister from Season 1 who escapes from prison and gathers allies to take down Red. The intense Season 10 finale presents Reddington with a formidable adversary he cannot evade.



‘Blacklist’ Season 10 ending: What exactly happens?

In Blacklist Season 10, Wujing teams up with other Blacklisters to pursue Reddington. However, the Task Force faces a bigger challenge in the form of Congressman Arthur Hudson, who launches an investigation into their operations due to suspicious government spending. Hudson goes to extreme lengths, including tapping Agent Donald Ressler's phone, to gather evidence and receives orders to permanently shut down the Task Force.

In the two-part season finale, titled "Raymond Reddington: Pt. 1" and "Raymond Reddington: Good Night," Hudson and the Strike Force relentlessly pursue Reddington after his staged death. In the first episode, Reddington shoots Hudson in a fatal encounter, triggered by the congressman's attack on Reddington's former bodyguard, Dembe Zuma. Reddington manages to escape to Spain while the Task Force tries to locate him.

In the second episode, Reddington makes poignant final calls to Dembe and his granddaughter, Agnes Keen, before enjoying a peaceful walk in the Spanish countryside. However, his respite is abruptly interrupted when an angry bull charges towards him. Eventually, the Task Force catches up to Reddington in Spain, only to find him lifeless and bloodied from the encounter with the bull.
