The famous pharmaceutical company Biogen has decided on its new CEO. The veteran in the field, Christopher Viehbacher, is chosen as the new Biogen CEO by the board members of the firm. He is the successor to Michel Vounatsos and became the CEO a month after Michel Vounatsos left the post.
Christopher Viehbacher has previously served as the CEO of Sanofi, a French pharmaceutical company. He was removed from the post in 2014 amidst declining sales of a vital diabetes drug. Christopher Viehbacher then, in 2015, co-led Gurnet Point Capital.
These times are crucial for the pharmaceutical company as there's a lot of competition in the U.S. drug-making company. Another reason why the appointment of the CEO is taken at a crucial time is that Biogen has recently launched its much-awaited medicine Aduhelm, Alzheimer's disease drug.
