In spite of officially declaring an annual salary of $140,000, the Russian President Vladimir Putin's alleged wealth is estimated to be as high as $200 billion which actually raises eyebrows about the disparity between his public persona and rumored opulence, reported Fortune. On one hand, Vladimir Putin claims ownership of modest assets which includes an 800 square foot apartment and three cars; on the other hand, reports suggest a far more extravagant lifestyle.

According to Fortune, central to these allegations is a lavish Black Sea mansion which is often referred to as ‘Putin's Country Cottage’, which actually features luxurious amenities such as a marble swimming pool, an amphitheater and a casino. The mansion's construction reportedly cost near about $1.4 billion while the maintenance expenses reaches up to $2 million annually.

More than that, Vladimir Putin's rumored collection includes 19 other properties, 700 cars and a fleet of 58 aircraft and helicopters which also includes a $716 million plane dubbed as ‘The Flying Kremlin’, asserted Fortune. His luxury watch collection further fuels speculation about his wealth with individual pieces worth significantly more than his declared income.

These certain claims have been supported by testimonies from eminent financial experts like Bill Browder, who eventually testified in the year 2017 that Vladimir Putin amassed his fortune through corrupt practices involving oligarchs, noted Fortune. While Vladimir Putin denies all these allegations and asserts that his true wealth lies in the trust of the Russian people, the contrast between his official statements and rumored assets still continues to provoke skepticism.
