Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News host, has boldly predicted the future of the Republican Party by claiming that vice president JD Vance is the only one who can continue the political legacy of US president Donald Trump in 2028, as per a report.

During a conversation in the 'VINCE podcast' with host Vince Coglianese, Carlson, who has been personally close to Vance via his son Buckley Carlson, who is Vance's press secretary, expressed his trust in the vice president being able to fill Trump's shoes, according to Independent.

Carlson claimed, “I think people want to leave a legacy, all of us do, and great men especially do,” as quoted by the Independent. He also added that, “the only person in the entire Republican Party from my position who’s capable of carrying on the Trump legacy and expanding it, making it what it should fully be, is JD Vance,” quoted Independent.


The former Fox News host then proceeded to mention Vance's loyalty to Trump, and terming his service to the US president "profound," as per the report. According to him, Vance has been a "powerful partner" to Trump.

Carlson said, “I don’t see any other — at this point, as of today — any other conceivable option,” as quoted by Independent. He also claimed, “I think JD Vance will be the nominee,” quoted Independent.

Trump’s Vague Response to the 2028 Speculation

However, when Trump was questioned about Vance as a prospect for the 2028 presidential last month, he claimed there are “a lot of capable people” and did not mention Vance's name, as per the report.

But, according to Carlson and Coglianese, the US president might have avoided the question to protect his second-in-command by removing the focus from the next election, reported Independent.

Carlson justified Trump's move saying, “I’m assuming that was just like a phrase that you feel you have to use,” as quoted in the report.
