Big news for Verizon customers: Phone carrier to end free perks on phone plans starting this date; key details inside

In yet another piece of shocking news for Verizon (VZ) customers, the company has announced that those having its 5G Get More and 5G Play More plans will soon no longer have access to free Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass subscriptions, according to The Street. As more customers cancel their phone service, Verizon has taken a step that could make matters worse for the company.

The two subscriptions provided customers with the opportunity to access extensive catalogs of games on their mobile phones. Apple Arcade usually costs $6.99 per month, and Google Play Pass is $4.99 per month. The phone carrier is set to discontinue the free perk on September 22, 2025, and remove it from customer accounts on September 25, 2025.

Customers who have six months of free Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass on their accounts will be charged if the promotional period ends before September 25, unless they cancel, according to Verizon’s website. The subscription will be removed from their accounts if it ends on or after September 25, and they won't be charged.


Verizon customers have reported receiving emails that notify them about the removal of loyalty discounts. The change, set to begin no sooner than September 1, 2025, is prompting concern and confusion. Many customers say the discount was the only reason they stayed with the service. The move follows other price hikes.

Verizon has informed some of its users that loyalty discounts on their accounts will be removed. The notification was shared through email and states, “This discount will be removed no sooner than September 1, 2025.”

Verizon, in March 2024, raised the prices of its 5G Start, 5G Play More, 5G Get More, and 5G Do More plans by an extra $4 a month. The company in January 2025 increased the monthly prices for myPlan and New Verizon Plan accounts due to “rising operational costs.”
