Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's ongoing legal battle has taken an unexpected turn. According to new court filings, Justin Baldoni's attorneys claim that Blake Lively pressed Taylor Swift to publicly support her or risk having her personal texts leaked.

On Wednesday, May 14, Baldoni's attorneys wrote to the judge in response to Lively and Ryan Reynolds's rejection of a subpoena sent to Venable, Swift's legal representation firm, explaining why they think the subpoena is required in this particular case, as per a report by People.


"The Lively Defendants' insistence that the subpoena seeks irrelevant information is wrong," Bryan Freedman writes in the letter.

In the letter, Freedman says he got a tip from a "source who is highly likely to have reliable information." That unnamed source claimed that Swift was asked to remove texts from Lively, as quoted in a report by People.

Another allegation in the letter is that Lively's lawyer called Swift's lawyer and asked Swift to provide a statement endorsing Lively. The lawyer also warned that the private personal text messages would be made public if Swift did not comply.

Freedman claims that they were also told that Swift's attorney "addressed these inappropriate and apparently extortionate threats" in response to Lively's attorney.

He continues, "It is those communications that the Wayfarer Parties seek to obtain" in order to establish “an attempt to intimidate and coerce a percipient witness in this litigation."

Mike Gottlieb, Lively's lawyer, refutes the claims, calling them dishonest, based on alleged anonymous sources and wholly disconnected from reality, as per a report by People.

Lively's legal team has flatly denied the allegations, calling them "categorically false". They have unequivocally denied the claim, which they said is baseless and damaging.

Why is Taylor Swift involved in this legal fight?

In the ongoing legal battle, which started when Lively sued her It Ends With Us co-star and director Baldoni, claiming sexual harassment and retaliation, Swift was served with a subpoena on May 9.

Lively allegedly referred to Swift and Reynolds as her "dragons" who defend her in one of the texts she allegedly sent to Baldoni, which has already been made public as exhibits in their individual complaints.
