SOPHOS has issued a pretty recent cybersecurity alert in which the cyber-attack is related to SEO poisoning and is extremely dangerous.

New York Post reported that users who click on these seemingly legitimate links may have their personal information which even includes bank details stolen by malware known as Gootloader.

The issue is primarily affecting users in Australia while the dangerous links are only appearing when ‘Australia’ is being typed or included in the search query. New York Post noted that the tactic of SEO poisoning is pretty alarming because it targets innocent searches which actually mean that users do not really need to be seeking anything suspicious to become the victims.
SOPHOS advises anyone who might have ended up clicking on such links to immediately change their passwords, asserted New York Post.SEO poisoning exploits popular search terms to lure users into clicking harmful links which can eventually lead to malware downloads or credential theft.
