Berlin zoo closed due to bird flu outbreak
A positive avian flu test result was in one of the zoo's aquatic birds. Therefore, the Berlin Zoo announced on Friday that it would be closing its doors until the situation had been resolved.

The previous week's autopsy revealed that a medium-sized wading bird, known as Hamerkop, had tested positive for Avian flu.
According to a statement released by the zoo, the "precautionary action" being considered now is closing the zoo. During this time, the keepers are working very hard to isolate and separate the remaining groupings of bird species.
In recent weeks, cases of avian influenza have been confirmed in zoos located in several German cities, including Greifswald, Karlsruhe, Rostock, and Heidelberg.
