Beckham family rift grows: Brooklyn Beckham issues legal notice to David and Victoria, cuts direct contact

Brooklyn Beckham, son of global star David and Victoria Beckham, has reportedly established limits on communication with his parents amid a developing family dispute.

Brooklyn Beckham reportedly needs no direct contact with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, as strains within the high-profile family remain. According to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old chef sent letters with his parents last summer, but solely through legal representatives.

Brooklyn allegedly instructed that David and Victoria should not communicate with him directly or upload public remarks about him on social media. He made the request after being upset by media briefings indicating he was being “controlled” by his wife, Nicola Peltz, and termed as a “hostage.”

“David was told to speak to them via [law firm] Schillings,” a source stated to the outlet. “That was the only way for them to communicate.”

Social Media Blocks Highlight Ongoing Rift

Previous month, the Beckham family’s 20-year-old son, Cruz, stated that Brooklyn blocked both him and their parents on Instagram while explaining that David, 50, and Victoria, 51, did not initiate the block.

“NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son,” Cruz cited. “Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked … as did I.”

Brooklyn was not present from David’s 2025 Instagram year-in-review, which includes his other children Cruz, 20; Romeo, 23; and Harper, 14 though David shared a Story portraying him and Brooklyn on the same day, citing, “You are my life. I love you all, Love Daddy.” Victoria then reposted the story.

Family Feud Deepens With Legal Steps

Brooklyn has reportedly escalated strains by sending an official legal notice to his parents, reinforcing that all further communication should happen through lawyers. Sources indicate that the move follows continuing frustrations after his marriage to Nicola Peltz in 2022, which saw Brooklyn skip his father’s 50th birthday and Victoria’s Netflix documentary launch. Similarly, David and Victoria allegedly did not attend Brooklyn and Nicola’s vow renewal earlier this year.

“Truly, people do not know the full facts of this heartbreaking tale, and think Brooklyn was just being truculent when he blocked his parents,” a source stated The Sun. “The reality is that he issued them with a letter at the end of last summer, asking for any correspondence to go via lawyers only, and wanted to try and make amends privately, not publicly. He felt his parents continued to ignore his wishes and kept mentioning him online instead of reaching out privately.”

Are David and Victoria Open to Reconciliation?

Despite the tense connection, David and Victoria continue to be open to rebuilding bonds with their eldest son but are allegedly “bemused and devastated” by the situation.

“For their part, David and Victoria have simply tried to let their beloved eldest son know the door is always open, and that they still care,” the source stated. “After this letter, they had no other physical means of reaching out to him so what were they to do? They of course feel utterly bemused and devastated by this latest turn of events. There is no malice from their part, only concern. But it is clear, if there is going to be any reconciliation, it will be away from prying eyes and must be done privately. That’s all anyone wants but, alas, seems a long, long way off given they are only now communicating through lawyers.”
