The King and Princess of Wales are the Royal family members involved in a racism controversy, revealed by the BBC on Radio 4's Today programme despite earlier indications that the names would not be disclosed.

Senior news executives reportedly made the decision after various British media outlets identified the individuals, mentioned in Omid Scobie's book "Endgame" regarding Prince Archie's skin color, as royal figures.

The names were initially disclosed in the Dutch edition of the book, with the revelation being characterized as an error.

Piers Morgan revealed the names globally on his Talk TV show after they gained online traction, highlighting the irony that Dutch readers were informed while the UK audience remained in the dark.

Initially, on Thursday, the BBC maintained its stance of not disclosing the identities of the royal figures.

Earlier today, Jonny Dymond, the BBC's royal correspondent, reported that the Dutch editions of the book identified the King and the Princess of Wales as the alleged members of the Royal family who discussed the skin color of Meghan's first child.

Shortly after that, Nick Robinson, a presenter on the Today programme, made it clear that he had informed listeners about an hour earlier that the BBC was not naming them. He then stated that the King and the Princess of Wales were now being named as being at the center of those allegations.

The decision to use the names on Radio 2 and online was finalized by senior news editors at the BBC and is now applicable across the news division, as per the reports.

In the book " Endgame," it is detailed that the 42-year-old Duchess of Sussex sent a letter to her father-in-law, the then Prince Charles. In the letter, she conveyed her concerns regarding unconscious bias within the Royal family.

The King is present at Cop28, delivering an inaugural speech to global leaders on climate change and engaging in various diplomatic discussions.
