After witnessing battlefield failures, Russian soldiers have started to attack Ukrainian dams in an effort to flood Ukrainian military crossing sites, according to UK intelligence.

The strikes were unlikely to have caused a major interruption in Ukrainian operations due to the distance between the destroyed dams and the combat regions, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) stated.

According to the report, after attacking a dam close to Krivyy Rih, which is located in central Ukraine, the week before, Russian forces used powerful missiles and other similar weaponry to attack the Penchenihy dam located on Siverskyy Donets river on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the MoD, Ukrainian forces are moving upstream along both rivers. Russian commanders may be looking to open dam sluice gates in order to flood Ukrainian military crossing sites as they grow more worried about their operational defeats.

It occurs as thousands of Russians try to emigrate to nearby nations in order to avoid conscription.

On Friday, long lines were observed at Finland's southern border with Russia as the number of Russians entering the Nordic nation had more than doubled from the previous week.

At the border with Kazakhstan, which has also seen an uptick in Russian immigration, similar incidents have been observed.

The exodus happened when Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, stated last week that he would be launching a conscription push to recruit more soldiers for the conflict in Ukraine.

According to border guards, about 7,000 people entered Finland from Russia on Thursday, with about 6,000 of them being Russian. When compared to the same day a week prior, this was an increase of 107%, and the figures are continuing to rise.

After a number of nations closed their airspace to Russian planes in response to Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, Finland's land border crossings became one of the last access options for Russians into Europe.
