The stage is set for an exciting Copa del Rey semi-final as Barcelona have been drawn against Atletico Madrid. Hansi Flick’s side secured their place in the last four with a dominant 5-0 win over Valencia earlier this month and now face a formidable challenge against Diego Simeone’s men.

The semi-finals, now shifting to a two-legged format, will see Barcelona play host in the first leg before travelling to the Metropolitano Stadium for the return fixture.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s city rival Real Madrid will take on Real Sociedad in the other semi-final, with the first leg in San Sebastian and the second at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The final, set for April 26, will be held at Estadio La Cartuja in Sevilla, where one team will claim the prestigious trophy.

Historic rivalry renewed

Barcelona, the most successful club in Copa del Rey history with 31 titles, last lifted the trophy in 2021. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid, with 10 titles to their name, are aiming to end an 11-year drought since their last victory in 2013, when they defeated city rivals Real Madrid in the final.

Real Madrid, 20-time winners of the competition, secured their most recent title in 2023, overcoming Osasuna in the final.

Real Sociedad, who have won the tournament twice, last claimed the trophy in 2020 with a victory over Athletic Bilbao.
