Barack Obama is plotting Biden’s ouster after George Clooney’s op-ed; says the President’s advisors

Actor George Clooney’s op-ed in the New York Times has created ripples across the political establishment. According to MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, Biden’s campaign team believes that this op-ed is being used by former President Barack Obama to plan Biden’s ouster ahead of the presidential election in November. According to many news reports, Biden has been unhappy with the way Obama had treated him in the past and this has only increased his resolve to continue fighting in the election in November. There have been concerns associated with Joe Biden’s cognitive health as well as questions being raised on his continuance in office. Many of the leading democrats and donors have called on him to step down and make way for VP Kamala Harris as the presidential nominee.

Is Obama plotting Biden’s ouster?

It has been reported that Barack Obama has taken cognizance of George Clooney’s op-ed and is privately seeking to oust Biden ahead of the race in November. The actor is believed to have spoken to Obama after the op-ed was published. The latter too did not criticize Clooney for the article.

It is still not clear on how exactly this op-ed is being used to oust Biden as a candidate of the Democratic party.

Is there a lack of bonhomie between Obama and Biden?

Biden had served as Obama’s deputy. He was Obama running mate during both the terms from 2008-2016. It is believed that Obama did not favor Biden during the Presidential Election in 2016. He supported his Secretary of State Hilary Clinton against Trump. In the present times, it has been reported that Biden has been wary of Obama’s attempts to oust him from office.

The other side of the story has been that Obama has accompanied Biden to many fund-raising events including the event in Los Angeles in which George Clooney was present. In public, Obama has supported his former deputy.

Actor George Clooney took to the New York Times and called on Biden to end his election campaign. He has predicted that Biden and the Democrats are heading for a massive loss in November. He added that he considers Biden as a friend and has someone who has won the battles he has waged.

Clooney said that Biden is no more the same person he had seen earlier in 2010 or even in 2020. He warned Biden that there is one battle which he cannot win and that is the battle against time. He was alluding to Biden’s cognitive decline.
