Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger: All you may want to know

The sequel to Bank of Dave, titled Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger, will be released on Netflix in January 2025. The movie picks up Dave Fishwick's story as he faces new challenges.

The first movie, released as a Netflix Original, quickly gained attention after its UK release in early 2023. It stayed in the UK’s Top 10 for 22 days and in Ireland for 19 days. In December 2023, the film reached the Top 10 in several countries for two days after a broader rollout.

Plot

The sequel is set two years after Fishwick started Britain’s first community bank. This time, he takes on payday loan companies. Dave is joined by Jessica, an American journalist, and Oliver, a local Citizen’s Advice counselor. The journey will take them to the United States to challenge this controversial industry. This fight is based on Fishwick’s real-life efforts against payday loans in the 2010s.

Cast

The sequel introduces new faces, including Chrissy Metz from This Is Us as Jessica, a journalist covering Dave's story, and Rob Delaney from Catastrophe as Carlo Macini. Hugh Bonneville, known for Downton Abbey, plays Sir Charles. The movie also features Dan Fogler, Leila Farzad, and several other supporting actors.

Filming

Filming for Bank of Dave 2 started in late February 2024 and is expected to wrap up by March 26, 2024. The majority of the film was shot in Yorkshire, London, and Burnley. Notable filming locations include a local fish and chip restaurant and the Caramba Steakhouse.

The script for the movie is written by Piers Ashworth. The producers of the film include Karl Hall and Piers Tempest, while the cinematography is handled by Mike Stern Sterzynski. Additional crew members include editor Mark Thornton and art director Lisa De Cunha.
