Ireland has a number of bank holidays in 2023. Last year was exceptional as March had a "double" public holiday, with the public celebrating both St. Patrick's Day and the following day off from work. The additional day off after St. Patrick's Day was a one-time event introduced as a tribute to health workers and to honor those who lost their lives to Covid.

The 2023 public holiday calendar does not include it; however, a new permanent bank holiday has been established to commemorate St. Brigid. This holiday will occur every year on the first Monday in February.

There are 10 confirmed bank holidays scheduled for 2023, and the majority of employees are eligible for paid time off for these holidays under the Organisation of Working Time Act. Additionally, schools will be closed on these days.
