Baggage handler killed in a freak accident at New Orleans Airport. Here's what happened

A ground worker at New Orleans airport, Jermani Thompson lost her life in an accident as she was offloading an airplane, and her hair got entangled in machinery. The Director of Aviation at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, while mourning the death of a ground worker said that she was a part of the airport family.

When did the accident happen?

A Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport statement said that Jermani was servicing a Frontier flight around 10 p.m. and that's when the accident happened. Jermani Thompson was just 26 years old and a GAT Airline Ground Support employee. The airport said that she was rushed to the hospital and died there.

Reports say that Jermani Thompson's hair got entangled in a belt loader machine. GAT Airline Ground Support CEO Mike Hough said they are all supporting Jermani's family and friends during this trying time and are heartbroken. Kevin Dolliole, Director of Aviation, said the New Orleans airport is deeply saddened by the accident.

Condolences

Dolliole stated that Jermani was an airport family member, and everyone would support each other in whatever capacity possible. Frontier Airlines expressed condolences, saying their thoughts are with Jermani's family and friends.



Angela Dorsey, Jermani's mother, said her daughter was a Tougaloo College graduate and loved basketball. She said that Jermani was her baby girl and was deeply saddened.
