Even after taking a year to write, James Cameron admitted that the whole screenplay for Avatar 2 was rejected because he wasn't satisfied with it.

Following 13 years and approximately $2.85 billion (£2.5 billion) in box office revenue, Avatar: The Way of Water will be released in December.

Cameron recently remarked that he got down with his writers to start Avatar 2, and he said they cannot make the second one until they understand why the first part of the series performed so well.

He said that they have to figure out exactly what happened.
On being asked what were the findings of the research, James Cameron's team conducted, he said that all movies, however, function on many levels. The first section is on the surface and includes the character, issue, and solution. The second one has a theme. However, Avatar also affects the subconscious, or third level, according to the filmmaker.
