James Cameron has officially confirmed that Avatar 3 is still on track for its scheduled release in 2025. It will be Christmas treat for 'Avatar' fans.

Disney had previously announced a delay in the release dates for the next three Avatar movies. Avatar 3 is now set for December 19, 2025, followed by Avatar 4 on December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 on December 19, 2031.

The initial plan was to release the movies two years apart starting in 2024. Given the extensive production time for Avatar 2, the decision to push back the sequels seems to have been a prudent one.


During a recent press conference, Cameron reassured fans that Avatar 3 is maintaining its course for the anticipated release on December 19, 2025.

While the plot details of Avatar 3 remain undisclosed, James Cameron provided a glimpse in January 2023 by mentioning the introduction of "two completely new cultures" to the franchise's mythology.

Cameron had earlier hinted at the inclusion of a more antagonistic faction of Na'vi on the planet Pandora in Avatar 3. Described by producer Jon Landau as "an aggressive, volcanic race" led by Varang, portrayed by Game of Thrones star Oona Chaplin.
