It's the saga of the two Eds: the then head of A&R for Atlantic's Asylum Records, Ed Howard, first met the singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran at a Bruno Mars concert in London in 2010. They started talking, and Sheeran, who didn't have his place then, ended up sleeping on Howard's couch and playing some of his songs.

Howard made him join the Asylum when most of the famous brand labels had passed on Sheeran at least once, and he has been there on every step of the way as he became one of the world's most successful musicians.

Howard has also risen through the ranks; he is co-president of Atlantic U.K. with Briony Turner. His portfolio includes successful singers.

He continues to work with Sheeran. A media outlet spoke with Howard in London to discuss his working relationship with the guy he deems the finest songwriter of the century.

Howard stated that Sheeran has constantly solicited feedback from everyone, not just A&R personnel. In the run-up to musical decisions, he plays many kinds of music to many people - friends, relatives, musicians and songwriters. It's one of his greatest assets. He's open-minded and curious, which has served him well in his work.
