Atlantic Hurricane warnings in U.S: Floridians keeping cool, survey says
About one in four residents of the Sunshine State would ignore an evacuation order. 60% of people say they will only evacuate if the hurricane reaches Category 3 status or higher.

The AAA reports that 1 out of 4 people living in Florida ignore evacuation warnings. 60% of people say they would only flee a hurricane if it was a Category 3 or higher.
Approximately 29% of people do not plan in advance or make arrangements for the hurricane season or even make advanced preparations for hurricane season or grave weather. Almost half of the people ie 44% of residents said that they do not even plan how to evacuate.
According to the survey, two out of five respondents would be hesitant to leave their homes if there was a major hurricane due to high gas prices and gas availability.
In addition to not being able to take their pets with them, not knowing where to go, and not having the money to evacuate, some people do not say they would evacuate.
Although it's been four years since a major storm hit Jacksonville, the NOAA predicts three to six hurricanes will make landfall this year. A “major” hurricane is a Category 3 or higher.
On the eve of hurricane season, agencies will distribute hurricane guides that outline evacuation zones and other things people should know about preparing for a hurricane.
