Ashton Kutcher returns to acting, appears solo on red carpet with Mila Kunis nowhere in sight

Ashton Kutcher has returned to the spotlight with The Beauty, a provocative latest FX/Hulu series that combines body horror, social commentary, and psychological thriller.

He walked the red carpet alone at the New York City premiere of his latest series The Beauty, as his wife, Mila Kunis, was absent for the event just days following the attendance in Golden Globes with him. The actor posed solo and with fellow cast members at the high-profile launch that took place at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in NYC.

The Beauty is an FX/Hulu body-horror thriller created by Ryan Murphy. The narrative lingers around a powerful drug that promises physical perfection but arrives with deadly challenges. Created in a world riddled with corrupted authorities, FBI investigations, and secret conspiracies, the series delves into the dangerous cost of obsession with beauty and youth.

Kutcher Enters His ‘Villain Era’ as Byron Forst

Signaling a striking turn in his career, Kutcher features Byron Forst, a tech billionaire named The Corporation. The character creates the drug also called The Beauty and uses it himself to preserve a youthful outlook. Cold, calculating, and self-serving, Forst is ready to do whatever it takes to his trillion-dollar empire.

Red Carpet Fashion and Co-Star Appearances

For the premiere, Kutcher wore navy trousers accompanied with a blue shirt and an overcoat, finishing the outlook with shiny black shoes. After posing alone, he joined many co-stars for group photos, that includes Isabella Rossellini, Anthony Ramos, Rebecca Hall, Evan Peters, Jeremy Pope, alongside FX executives Dana Walden and John Landgraf.

The NYC event arrived shortly after Kutcher and Kunis attended the Golden Globe Awards together. The pair, who share two children Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher (born 2014) and Dimitri Portwood Kutcher (born 2016) came fashionably late at the Beverly Hilton while the program was already underway.

Social Media Reacts to Golden Globes Return

Although the couple seemed to be cheerful while presenting, several viewers expressed displeasure online because of the controversy surrounding their previous link with disgraced celebrities. Kutcher wore a black tuxedo with a navy shirt, while Kunis chose a white gown with black patterned designs.

One social media user cited, "I thought they were excommunicated for being rape apologists," another stated, "They support bad people." A third critic remarked, "Really used to like her, but she supports a rapist. Disgusting, and any positive feelings I had died. He's always been creepy and awful."

A Career Comeback at Stake

Industry sources indicate that The Beauty could be important for Kutcher’s career. One source mentioned, "Back in the day Ashton was a huge player in Hollywood, landing one role after another. Now he's pinning all his hopes on his new series to put him back in the spotlight. He hopes people can forgive and forget the shameful things he's been involved in over the years."

Why Ashton Kutcher Initially Stepped Back From Acting

In recent years, Kutcher focused more on fatherhood over acting. Talking to Extra, he described his hesitation about returning to television, stating, "My kids are young, they're nine and 11, and these are like the years I want to be home... I coach flag football. I'm doing all this stuff."

Ryan Murphy’s Pitch Changed Everything

Kutcher cited that his views shifted following a conversation with Ryan Murphy. He remembered, "I was like, 'First of all, like, just, all you had to say was Ryan Murphy and I'll have a conversation.'"

He stated, "Walking in the meeting, I was like, I really don't want to be away from home. I don't want to be away from my kids."

The Inspiration Behind ‘The Beauty’

Murphy’s concept finally convinced Kutcher to sign on. He described, "He's like, 'And then I started seeing what was happening with like GLP-1s, like Mounjaro and Ozempic and Wegovy and all these things, and how people were like craving this shot that would make them look the way they want to look. And then he was like, 'What if you went one step further, and this shot would make you like the most beautiful version of yourself? And what would people be willing to give up to get that? How far would they be willing to go?'"

When Does ‘The Beauty’ Premiere?

The Beauty is scheduled to debut on January 21, signalling a bold new chapter for Ashton Kutcher as he enters into a darker, more challenging role.
