The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released a nuclear attack survival guide amid escalating global tensions specifically due to the ongoing war in Ukraine and conflicts in the Middle East, reported The Mirror US. The guide emphasizes on the fact that individuals may have as little as 15 minutes to seek safety following a nuclear detonation.

The Mirror US reported that FEMA actually outlines three critical steps for survival: Get Inside, Stay Inside and Stay Tuned.

In the event of a nuclear explosion, individuals should immediately find shelter in a sturdy building which can be ideally a basement or central room and is away from windows. They should remain indoors for at least 24 hours unless instructed otherwise by authorities and it is pretty crucial to avoid outdoor exposure during this time, as fallout can be highly radioactive and dangerous, noted The Mirror US.

FEMA also warns that nuclear blasts can cause significant destruction not just from the explosion itself but also from the ensuing fallout and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) effects, asserted The Mirror US.
