Riano was flown to Cincinnati and sent to the Butler County Jail where he will stay till the trial is held. When a reporter asked him at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport why he had become a police officer, Antonio "El Diablo" Riano said that he wanted to help the people of Mexico.

A witness said that on December 19, 2004, Riano and Becerra got into an argument at the Roundhouse Bar in Hamilton, Ohio. They also quarreled outside the bar where Riano fatally shot Becerra in the face.The case went cold. A big break came earlier this year after Paul Newton, a former deputy on the case "started actively looking" for Riano in January. The police officer discovered "El Diablo" running a Facebook page. The officials found him living in Oaxaca, Mexico, working as a police officer at the Zapotitlan Palmas Police Department.
