PS2 emulation on Android has evolved since the AetherSX2 app was discontinued. Developers subsequently created NetherSX2 by modifying the abandoned project. ARMSX2 has been in testing prior to this release.
ARMSX2 utilizes a more recent version of PCSX2 code for PC compared to NetherSX2, which relies on older code. The updated foundation theoretically provides improved fixes and optimizations for problematic games.

The emulator employs x86-to-Arm64 translation in addition to emulation. This results in slower performance compared to native PS2 emulators for Android such as AetherSX2 and NetherSX2. The development team indicated performance may change as work continues.
ARMSX2 version 1.0 experiences stability issues at launch
Testing on two devices, the vivo X Fold 5 and X300 Pro, resulted in crashes after selecting games or running the BIOS. Testing involved limited settings adjustments including BIOS and renderer changes.
