Rangers defeated Houston Astros earlier to enter the World Series.
Diamondbacks' starting pitcher, Brandon Pfaadt, showcased his prowess with an impressive seven strikeouts, relinquishing only four hits and two runs over four innings. The subsequent five pitchers demonstrated exceptional control, allowing just one hit and no runs.
Corbin Carroll of Arizona displayed an outstanding performance, garnering three hits in four at-bats, resulting in two runs scored and two runs batted in.
On the Phillies' side, starting pitcher Ranger Suárez exhibited a valiant effort, conceding six hits and three runs while recording six strikeouts over four innings. However, a pivotal sacrifice fly by Carroll against pitcher Jose Alvarado in the seventh inning shifted the balance, propelling Arizona to a 4-2 lead.
The Diamondbacks' last appearance in the World Series was in 2001after their victory against New York Yankees. Reflecting on this momentous triumph, Arizona manager Torey Lovullo stated, "I’ve said it a million times, and I’ll say it again: A connected team is a very dangerous team. No matter what happened in those times of crisis, these guys stuck together."
Over on the social media platform X, the Diamondbacks' elation and jubilation were palpable, as fans and supporters celebrated this monumental achievement.
