Argentina will withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO) following a similar move by the US. According to Euro News, Argentina Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni eventually announced that Argentina President Javier Milei ended up instructing the foreign minister to initiate the withdrawal due to ‘profound differences’ with the UN health agency.

The administration of Argentina President Javier Milei believes that the WHO actually interfered with the sovereignty of Argentina specifically during the COVID-19 pandemic while citing a ‘lack of independence from the political influence’ of member states, reported Euro News.

Argentina President Javier Milei himself criticized the guidance of WHO regarding the physical distancing during the pandemic while decrying it as a ‘crime against humanity’. Adding onto that, the administration also stated that the recommendations of WHO actually stemmed from political pressures rather than scientific foundations.


They have also reportedly accused the organization of exacerbating the economic troubles of Argentina during the pandemic.

Argentina Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni said that the recent withdrawal would eventually give Argentina a far greater flexibility to implement policies in its interests and provide greater availability of resources, asserted Euro News. He also severely stated that the move ‘reaffirms our path towards a country with sovereignty also in health matters’.

This recent decision actually mirrors the action taken by US President Donald Trump who also criticized the WHO's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and its perceived political influences, noted Euro News. Argentina President Javier Milei who actually identifies himself as an ‘anarcho-capitalist' has been sincerely advocating for far drastic reductions in government spending.
