Apple teams up with Google for Siri AI as Gemini powers future Apple AI plans
Apple is teaming up with Google to power its artificial intelligence features, including Siri, later this year. This will be a long-term partnership that uses Google’s Gemini AI models and Google’s cloud technology for Apple’s future AI systems. Apple said it chose Google after reviewing many options and believes Google has the best technology for Apple’s AI foundation.

“After careful evaluation, we determined that Google’s technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models and we’re excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for our users,” Apple wrote, as cited by CNBC.

Apple Google AI deal

Apple did not share any details about the financial terms or conditions of the deal. Earlier, in August, Bloomberg reported that Apple was already talking with Google about using a custom Gemini model for a new version of Siri, as stated by Bloomberg. Last week, Google’s market value became bigger than Apple’s for the first time since 2019.

After the news came out, shares of both companies moved slightly lower in trading. Google’s market value briefly crossed $4 trillion during trading. Apple has stayed mostly quiet during the big AI rush on Wall Street that started after OpenAI launched ChatGPT in late 2022.

Apple Siri AI delay

Other big tech companies like Amazon, Meta Platforms, and Microsoft are spending billions of dollars on AI tools and products, as stated by CNBC. This heavy spending has increased pressure on Apple to improve Siri with stronger AI features. Apple had earlier delayed its major Siri AI upgrade until 2026, even though it had already promoted the feature in ads.

“It’s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year,” the company said at that time.

On the other hand, Google has been moving forward steadily with its AI plans. Google launched its upgraded Gemini 3 AI model late last year. In October, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Google Cloud signed more than $1 billion deals through the third quarter of 2025 than it did in the previous two years combined, as stated by CNBC.
