Apple unveiled a fresh music streaming platform that will concentrate on classical music. The new app, called Apple Music Classical, is built upon its acquisition of Primephonic, a streaming service based in Amsterdam. It will permit Apple Music subscribers to explore over 5 million classical music tracks, including high-quality audio for new releases. Moreover, the app will include numerous handpicked playlists, exclusive albums, and supplementary characteristics such as composer biographies and in-depth analyses of significant works.

Although the appearance of the service in the latest OS updates for developers indicated that it was almost ready, the precise launch date was unknown.

Today, the app has been unveiled, but it is only available for preorder on the App Store at the moment. It will be released on March 28, later this month. Furthermore, when the app is launched, it will only be compatible with iOS devices running iOS 15.4 or a more recent version.

Users can stream these recordings in high-quality audio, with a maximum resolution of 192 kHz/24-bit Hi-Res Lossless. Moreover, Apple's spatial audio technology will enable thousands of recordings to be experienced in an immersive sound environment.

Furthermore, the app will enable users to explore recordings and access editorial notes about the composers and their significant works. Apple has commissioned high-resolution digital portraits of renowned composers from artists, which will be accessible to users. These portraits were created using color palettes and artistic styles specific to the relevant classical period. Apple has announced that more portraits will be introduced in the future. Initially, portraits of Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, and Johann Sebastian Bach will be available when the app is launched.
