Apple launches mixed-reality headset Vision Pro at WWDC23: All you need to know

Finally, Apple has unveiled Vision Pro, however, it comes at a premium and before you decide to make a purchase, knowing about it may be helpful.

Apple recently, at Worldwide Developers Conference 2023, launched its first major product in a while, since 2014: Vision Pro. Alongside, Vision Pro, the Cupetino’s tech giant showcases several products in the line-up including MacBook Air 15”, M2 Max and M2 Ultra powered Mac Studio and Mac Pro.

Apple Vision Pro was long-rumored and now it’s finally here. For the new major product, Apple is also debuting a brand-new operating system designed specifically for the Vision Pro headset: visionOS.

It comes at a whopping $3,499 and will be available to purchase starting early 2024.

What else to know about Apple Vision Pro?

Controller-Free Experience: Vision Pro, described by CEO Tim Cook as "the first Apple product you look through, not at," relies solely on voice commands, hand gestures, and visual input. It is designed for gaming, work, and communication purposes.

Spatial Computing Goggles: Vision Pro's goggles will bring forth the concept of "spatial computing," providing an immersive experience. Additionally, while wearing the headset, others can see your eyes.

Digital Crown and Multi-App Capability: The innovative Digital Crown feature enables wearers to gauge their depth in virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR). Vision Pro can handle multiple applications simultaneously, enhancing its versatility.

Optic ID for Security: Vision Pro incorporates Optic ID, functioning as both face and touch ID. By scanning the user's iris and storing the image on the device itself, it allows for secure unlocking of the headset and facilitates Apple Pay transactions.

Collaboration with Unity: Apple has partnered with Unity, granting access to the mixed-reality platform for apps and games developed on Unity's platform.

App Compatibility: Vision Pro supports iOS and iPad OS apps, extending compatibility to Microsoft applications. Moreover, it introduces a brand-new App Store tailored for this cutting-edge device, showcasing the limitless potential of visionOS.
