Apex Legends is set to embrace the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth crossover with a new event mode, replacing the regular Battle Royale format. Players can anticipate the arrival of Cloud's iconic Buster Sword, available both as a weapon with light and heavy attacks, a blocking feature, and a dash move. The sword also boasts a meter to unleash a powerful "Limit Break," resembling the famed Omni-Slash from the teaser trailer.

Buster Sword: New Heirloom for All Legends

Aside from the mode-exclusive Buster Sword R2R5, an additional version known as Buster Sword R5 will be introduced as a general heirloom for all Legends. Obtainable through random drops in event packs, this version serves as a cosmetic item without gameplay abilities. Notably, it won't be available in the Mythic shop post-event, making its exclusivity during the event paramount.

Event Skins and New Hop-up: Materia

The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event brings forth 36 cosmetic items, including Legend and weapon skins, exclusively accessible through event packs. Additionally, a new hop-up called Materia can be found in the takeover event mode. Materia Hop-Ups enhance weapon effects or provide bonuses, with specific impacts for select weapons. The event-limited Cactuar Ticks will also feature these Materia Hop-Ups.

Blue Materia: HP Absorb - Damaging enemies heals the player.
Green Materia: Lightning - Reloading an empty weapon emits a shock nova, damaging and slowing nearby enemies.
Purple Materia: Crit Rate Up - Random criticals deliver extra damage.
Red Materia: Summon - Summons a Nessie companion to attack foes.
Yellow Materia: Assess - Damaging enemies reveals their remaining health.
