Anthony Davis exits Lakers vs Cleveland Cavaliers game early 'with flu-like symptoms'

Anthony Davis was forced to leave the Lakers' game ‘with flu-like symptoms’ against the Cleveland Cavaliers after the first quarter on Tuesday night, and the Lakers stumbled in a 116-102 defeat without their star center.

According to Shams Charania, the player was seen walking straight to the locker room and was later ruled out for the rest of the game.

Davis had scored 99 points in his previous two games and had been on a roll over the previous ten games as the Lakers went 8-2 to overcome most of their poor start to the season. He only managed one point in eight minutes before being forced to leave. When he left the game, the Lakers trailed 19-13 and were down by eight points at the half.


According to Lakers coach Darvin Ham, Davis' fever worsened during the day, "His temperature was 101 degrees and changing," Ham added. "He wanted to play, but he was too weak. He is exhausted and dehydrated. With the way he's been playing recently, that's a major loss”.



According to the coach, Davis is unlikely to play in Toronto on Wednesday and is worried about his COVID-19 result.

The eight-time All-Star has only played in 76 games over the past two seasons because of injuries. He was named ‘NBA Western Conference Player of the Week’ on Monday after averaging 37.8 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.3 blocks in four games.
