Another Settlement: Tom’s of Maine Toothpaste Case Explained

This comes alongside another class action settlement involving Tom’s of Maine and its parent Colgate-Palmolive Co.

That case, worth about $2.9 million, involves claims of “deceptive and misleading business practices” related to the manufacturing and marketing of toothpaste products, as per The Sun report. The lawsuit followed a 2024 inspection by the US Food and Drug Administration, which found some aspects of a facility were not in compliance with manufacturing processes, including the presence of a “black mold-like substance.”

Despite those findings, testing data showed that around 4,900 toothpaste products made over the past three years posed no safety risk. The company has denied wrongdoing but agreed to settle.
