Two women testified before the House Ethics Committee while alleging that Matt Gaetz who is the Attorney General-designate eventually paid them for sex and that one witnessed him engaging in sexual activity with a 17 year old, reported New York Post. Their attorney, Joel Leppard actually stated that both women confirmed under oath that Matt Gaetz made Venmo payments for sex.

According to New York Post, one woman recounted an incident back from July 2017 where she saw Matt Gaetz with her friend who was eventually a minor at the time. Although she also claimed that Matt Gaetz was totally unaware of the girl's age as this allegation raises serious legal concerns given Florida's age of consent is 18.

Matt Gaetz resigned from Congress back on November 13 just shortly after being nominated by US President- elect Donald Trump for the Attorney General position, noted New York Post. His resignation complicates the Ethics Committee's investigation as it no longer has jurisdiction over former members.

In spite of this, there are calls from various senators for the committee to release its report on Matt Gaetz’s alleged misconduct which also includes sexual misconduct and drug use. New York Post asserted that House Speaker Mike Johnson has eventually opposed releasing the report while arguing it would set a bad precedent.
