Some Malaga residents have prepared for the possibility of similar situations by securing their cars with ropes and cling film after severe floods occurred in other parts of Spain recently, as quoted in the Daily Star.

Ahead of more extreme weather, residents in some parts of Spain have gone so far as to completely wrap their cars in plastic and tie them to lamposts.

Unusually heavy seasonal rains in recent weeks have devastated parts of the country's south, killing hundreds of people and severely damaging property, including automobiles.

A picture shared on X shows a grey Mercedes wrapped in plastic sheeting and tied to a post with jump ropes. The red alert in Malaga warns of extreme risk from severe rainfall between 10 am and 11.59 pm on Wednesday, covering the Costa del Sol, Guadalhorce, and Axarquia regions.

Schools across Malaga province have been suspended. Preventative measures announced by the Junta de Andalucia include the preventative evacuation of people living along the banks of the Guadalhorce River, including those removed from their homes in Alora, Cartama, Alhaurin de la Torre, Pizarra, Cerralba, and Malaga.
